The fees can be paid by cash, check, money order or credit/debit card.The court will not accept out of state checks.

Payment can be made online with a credit/debit card via ePayment. ePayment has a 3.5% convenience fee. To utilize this option, click "Case Access" above, and then select ePayment Instructions for details. Wayne County Probate Court utilizes a third party vendor (CourtView Justice Solutions Inc.) to process ePayments. This transaction will appear on your statement as PAYPAL*COURTVIEW.

The Court will contact you with the cost once your request has been submitted. If you know the cost, please forward it along with your request.

Filing Fees

Filings that require a fee (initial petitions such as GA or CA cases, Petition and Order for Assignment, Applications/Petitions without an original Will, subsequent petitions):

  • FEES: Once you see your document has been accepted and a new case has been started or your document has been accepted, you MUST PAY THE FILING FEE associated with that filing. See the Fee Schedule.
  • Follow the ePayment instructions (opens in new window)here E-Payment Instructions to pay your fee online with a credit/debit card or PayPal. Wayne County Probate Court utilizes a third party vendor (CourtView Justice Solutions Inc.) to process ePayments. This transaction will appear on your statement as PAYPAL*COURTVIEW.
  • Once your filing has been accepted and processed, fees must be paid and there are no refunds. The fee is assessed at the time of filing not based on the results of your petition/hearing.

Credit/Debit Card Fee Payments

What credit or debit cards will the Court accept?

MasterCard and Discover.

Why can’t I use my Visa or American Express Card?

Neither of these companies will allow their cards to be used for this purpose.

Are there any user fees that I have to pay to use my credit or debit card?

Fees can be paid in person by MasterCard or Discover. JP Morgan Chase Bank, N.A. will charge a convenience fee of 2.49% that will be added to your payment amount for each transaction completed (minimum charge of $3.95).

Example #1: A certified copy of a letter of authority is $12. If payment is made by MasterCard or Discover, the cost is $15.95 ($12 plus $3.95 convenience fee).

Example #2: A petition to open a decedent estate is $175. If payment is made by MasterCard or Discover, the cost is $179.35 ($175 plus $4.35 convenience fee).

Example #3: A petition to open a conservatorship is $175. A petition to open a guardianship is $175. If payment is made by MasterCard or Discover, the cost is $358.71 ($350 plus $8.71 convenience fee).

Can I pay fees with a credit or debit card over the phone, via mail, or on-line?

Not at this time. Credit and debit card payments can only be processed in person.

To the Cashier window, which is located just outside of Room 1307. Follow the signs.
